i am up northern va right now and all that i hear is rap...don't get me wrong...it's ok and everything but Geez! everyone up here is so **Gangsta** and it's hilarious....I have never seen so many people that act like they are **Thugs** and I have heard SO many new words!!! it CrAcKs me up!! I was wondering if anyone else had any *interesting* encounters this summer.....

Mine would have to be as soon as you leave Wise County. I went to Florida and noticed that the people down there have a lot better manners than all the locals around here. No offense to anyone, but when you leave this place you can tell a big difference in people. Nobody judges anyone, and it's all laid back and everybody talks to everybody.
see thats the thing about florida, I think people sorta realize that its a big pond with alot of fish.....In wise county, you get rich people that think they are better than the queen of england but if you put em in florida, or even northern virginia, most of em would get laughed at.....Its stupid to try and act like a high roller, money means very little, sure its nice to have, but for every rich person, I can go and find someone else richer. Dr. Cotay or someone like that may be a big man around here, but in a larger place, hes just a guppy.
painful, what kind of rap are they listening to? If they are listening to something youve actually heard before, most likely they are suburban white kids that just like to be trendy....now if they are listening to something thats actually kinda hard, then they may just like rap music. Nova is sorta gangster, what part are we talking about?

ah man, everything is a little ghetto? I dunno about the people, thats what you see in your eyes, i live here so i guess im used to it....but as far as ghetto living conditions, sure norton has several housing projects and things of that nature, but its no worse than run down cars on blocks out in front of the trailer(8 mile kinda stuff) that you see in buchanon county and about any town in swva.
As far as african americans living in project housing, I can say, they may not have much, but what they do have, they keep very clean. Most everyone I know from southside is extremely clean and have better hygene than most of the white people in this town. As with ghetto life, there are always going to be drug issues, but it seems as though most people i know from norton are more resigned to selling/smoking weed than to set up a meth lab in a trailer.....The thing about norton, unlike most other places around here is everyone lives beside everyone, theres really no rural part of norton so its about impossible to get away with certain things that you could possibly get away with in other places because everyone sees everything and everyone knows everyones business.
Tob, what genre of music do you listen to? Whatever you listen to, there is probably a group that you listen to that doesnt get much airplay and then there may be something that you listen to that gets totally played out on the radio/tv.....Thats the way rap is, A and R executives get the choice of what songs to push(market) so generally they play the music thats appealing to the demographics of kids 13-25(the TRL crowd, which actually buys the music)......With that being said, theres alot of good rap music out there, it just doesnt sell alot of records because that type of music is considered "boring" to many though it is music that conveys a message and is music a person can ponder and relate to. Generally, the best rappers are the ones that end up selling about 30,000 copies while the worst are the ones that end up selling millions off of a catchy hit single.....thats what you have heard and think of as Crap, for the record, I do to.
